Great Salsa
Exceptional salsa, taste, quality etc. The Habanero required a visit to the ER for severe burns to the throat...KIDDING! This outstanding salsa is far superior to even the best retail salsa (major brand, mass produced sold at grocery stores) we have been using, which also received high compliments from others we've shared that with.
Although Papalote rates the "PAPALOTE ORIGINAL HOUSE SALSA" as "medium heat," the major brand salsa we've been using, also rated at medium-heat, would actually be a mild salsa in comparison. It's easy to consume an entire jar of Papalote salsa (even the Habanero!) within 2-3 days.
While the salsa receives a much-deserved high rating, if rating for the payment processing platform alone (program; Shopify?), the rating would be minus 5-stars. These new (last 5-10 years) payment processing platforms/services may be merchant-friendly, i.e. well-liked by e-merchants, however, they are anything BUT consumer-friendly, just cumbersome (not difficult but time-consuming cumbersome), difficult to save our mandatory invoices to our desktop for one. For another, that platform charges sales tax on a non-taxable food item, reverses that sales tax reflected in email order confirmations, but then places that sales tax temporary authorization on our bank credit card account, subsequently reversing THAT amount (sales tax).
The problem with this cumbersome, inefficient and goofy process (from consumers' perspectives) is that although the sales tax has been reversed on credit card balances, bank balances still reflect that negative balance (NOT the sales tax charge itself, but the "unseen" deficit!), for SEVERAL days. Bank systems still have to confirm with merchants that this amount was indeed reversed, thus the several days account deficit. Papalote, again, for merchants this payment-order processing platform (probably Canadian Shopify?) may be efficient for online merchants, however, for consumers the entire transactional process is just absolutely silly, time-consuming and, again, super cumbersome.
Back on track for the salsa. Wonderful, outstanding, excellent! Unfortunately and apparently we will just have to suffer through this time-consuming, cumbersome 3rd party order processing platform for future orders of the most delicious salsa available.
I ate this salsa all the time with my fave veggie burrito at their restaurant when I lived in the Mission. While I’m stuck in Minnesota, this salsa brings me back to old times. It’s also honestly just a delicious salsa that tastes like nothing else I’ve ever had.
I order this salsa across the country and all my friends go crazy for it. So necessary, so worth it.
So versatile. Mixed it with rice. Instant incredible Spanish rice!
